Four month old infant dies from Flu
 

Now Oneida County health officials are warning people to make sure they get a vaccine.



The baby died over the weekend. Oneida County health officials say the child became distressed and unresponsive while visiting a grandparent in Madison County.



The baby was then driven to community hospital in Hamilton where it was pronounced dead.



Preliminary tests show that it was Type A influenza.



A full autopsy is to be performed by the Onondaga county medical examiner.



Even though the child was too young to receive a flu shot, county health officials are trying to get the message out that it's not too late to get one.



They said it's important that young children, elderly and anyone with a chronic medical condition try to receive a vaccine.



Public information officer with Oneida county health department, Ken Fanelli said, "In light of this tragedy we would urge people with children particularly if they haven't been immunized against the flu, we still have pediatric doses of flu vaccine available at our Oneida County health clinics."
