Legislature looks at HPV vaccine
 

Two Democratic state lawmakers have introduced bills aimed at increasing use of a vaccine to fight human papilloma virus.



A similar effort failed in the Legislature last year, but the proposal's sponsors say the issue warrants another attempt.



Democratic and Republican state senators are scheduled to discuss similar legislation for their chamber today.



A task force chaired reports that Michigan could reduce the number of cervical cancer deaths with efforts including education and use of the vaccine.



The FDA approved the vaccine last year for girls as young as 9.
