There are key shortfalls in the provision of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery in Wales - all of which could have potentially disastrous effects on a patient's treatment and chance of surviving cancer.
A large-scale review of cancer services in Wales, by the National Assembly's Health and Social Services Committee, has found patients are struggling to access them in some parts of Wales and are suffering distressing and sometimes harmful delays in diagnosis and treatment.
It has also found that Wales needs to boost its cancer workforce and investment in equipment.
Professor Richard Sullivan, director of clinical programmes for Cancer Research UK, said, "This is mission critical - patients in Wales deserve the very best treatment and that means good radiotherapy, good surgery, good drugs and pathology.
